Historical and archaeological complex "Ancient Turov"
Castle Hill is the most popular place for tourists in Turov. In 1993, a majestic monument to Kirill Turovsky was erected here, and in 2009 the exhibition "ancient Turov" was opened. And, of course, the Castle Hill has its own secrets. One of the legends, for example, tells that the legendary Varangian Tur, the founder of the city, allegedly poured the mountain. Other legends say that the Tatars filled the Castle Hill with hats. And old-timers testify that there was once a round tower on the Castle Hill. Tall and beautiful. And mysterious. What is the mystery? And the fact that there was once an old underground passage that led to the garden of the village of Buraz (Prince Tour of animals "smashed" in that place), to the Kazargat tract (the name is the memory of the victory over the Khazars), which is a few kilometers from our town and to the city of Kiev. And maybe it's not a legend?

The mystery and existence of legends "feeds" the fact that no one has ever touched the second part of the Castle Hill. And no one knows what she is hiding in herself. Only people from generation to generation pass on supposedly a sorceress-princess is buried there, which saved the city of Pomara. She is credited with the following words: "I am dying, but if people need it, I will save my city."They also say that those who died of the plague were buried here , and their room , so that there would be no misfortune, cannot be disturbed ... There is also an opinion that the Turov princes sleep there forever. It's hard to say where the truth is and where the fiction is...

On the Castle Hill, on the site of a stone temple destroyed by an earthquake in 1230, the script "Ancient Turov" was opened. On the archaeological site, covered with a glass tent, the remains of the settlement, ancient weapons, ancient household items are presented.

The temple discovered during excavations at the ancient settlement is the largest monumental structure on the territory of the western lands of Ancient Russia. It has a length of 29.3 m, a width of 17.9 m. Burials in stone sarcophagi were found inside and outside the temple during excavations in the XX century.
