Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, an architectural monument of 1926
The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos is located in the center of d. Yavor. It was built in 1926 from concrete blocks in the neo-Russian style. In 1865-1868, the previous church was built. The tiered composition of the temple was created in the traditions of wooden architecture of the Russian North: four narthex of different sizes (narthex, refectory, prayer hall, apse with a side sacristy) are covered with a pointed roof rising to the center.

The church was built by residents of nearby villages around 1926.

In 1927, a powerful storm passed through the territory of the villages of Yavor and Sochivlyany.  It happened on the feast of the Holy Trinity, after the church service had ended. As a result of the storm, many residential buildings and the church building were partially or completely destroyed.

In the early 90s, residents of nearby villages rebuilt the church building at the expense of personal funds and with the help of the board of the local collective farm “New Life”.
