The National Centre of Contemporary Arts of Belarus falls under the category of art museums. It is located in the Belarusian capital in 3 Nekrasova Street near its intersection with Yakub Kolas Street.

The Contemporary Art Centre unites round itself young artists who offer the embodiment of various artistically philosophical modern projects. Besides «video-art» is available here representing the direction that implies the use of digital images and TV pictures to convey the author`s idea.

For many years just this building has housed art workshops based on the country`s higher educational institution-the Belarusian State Academy of Arts that was founded in 1945 as The Theatrical Institute and situated in 81 Nezavisimosti Avenue (modern building was erected in 1953).

Mikhail Savitsky, a famous Belarusian artist for a long time has been the head of «The Academic creative workshops of art, graphics and sculpture». Here the national artist`s workshop was also located where he had worked and in March 2006 had got the country`s highest award «The Hero of Belarus» in recognition of his contribution to the development of national art.

Many of the things Savitsky had worked with remained. Here one can see the painter`s creative tools and also copies of his works and different photos.

After the death of Mikhail Andreyevich Savitsky the Centre continued its activities though without former prefix «academic».

As in the past the Centre is a place of implementation of many art plans including pilot projects. The works personifying various modern art styles are exhibited here. A graduate school functions within the Centre where young painters and sculptors advance the limits of their skills. Exhibition activity showing modern art with its trends and innovations to the audience is one of the main directions of the Centre.

«The Contemporary Art Centre» aims to advance the skill level of young authors. It also meets the human need for acquiring knowledge in areas such as graphics, art and design.

The Centre is both a place of holding exhibitions and the organization that combines educational and research activities.

The Centre is open on Tuesday and from Thursday till Saturday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday and Monday «The Contemporary Art Centre» is closed to the public. Full ticket prices vary for different categories of visitors. Kids under five years of age have free entrance.

Excursion services are available at the Centre as well and enable to view the samples of the modern art in detail and from many aspects.
