Museum of V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli in Mogilev
From 1815 to 1917, the building housed the Mogilev Noble Assembly.

The decision to open a branch of the State Art Museum of the BSSR in Mogilev, dedicated to the largest landscape painter of the twentieth century, a native of Mogilev province Vitold Kaetanovich Byalynitsky-Birula (1872-1957) was made in 1977. Since the house in the Krynki estate, in which the artist was born, was not preserved, a two-story mansion, an architectural monument of the XVII century, was chosen to house the museum v. The Memorial Museum of V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli as a branch of the State Art Museum of the BSSR was opened on December 24, 1982.

By the time the branch was opened, the art museum had in its funds about five hundred paintings by V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli. Unique exhibits were selected for the exposition of the Mogilev Museum of V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli: objects of plastics, decorative and applied art, furniture, personal belongings donated by the artist's widow Elena Alekseevna.

In 2013, the building was closed for major repairs. The opening of the new exposition of the V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli Museum after restoration took place on September 1, 2018. Thanks to the overhaul, the museum acquired a modern design, new furniture, multimedia equipment, climate control and dust removal system were installed in all halls.

The permanent exhibition of the museum "The Art of V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli of the first half of the twentieth century", located in 4 halls on the second floor, is designed to give an idea of the artist's life and work. More than forty completed paintings and sketches, placed in bright spacious halls, give an idea of the work of an outstanding painter, a wonderful master of lyrical landscape.

V.K. Byalynitsky-Birulya is one of the creators of the genre of memorial landscape. His works depict memorable places associated with the lives of famous figures of Russian history and culture L.N. Tolstoy, A.S. Pushkin, P.I. Tchaikovsky, etc.

The memorial exposition of the artist V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli, is located in the halls of the II floor. Temporary expositions are located in the exhibition halls of the I and III floors, lectures, creative meetings and master classes are held.

The Museum of V.K. Byalynitsky-Biruli occupies a special place in the cultural space of Mogilev. At the new stage of its life, which began after the reconstruction in 2018, it managed to become a significant exhibition and cultural center of the region. The museum is a modern art gallery that meets all the requirements of international standards for hosting exhibition projects of the highest level. The museum site has become a place where various events are held – classical music concerts, dance evenings, cinema screenings of masterpieces of world cinema, etc. Byalynitsky-Biruli in Mogilev is looking for and finding new options for its development and improvement, positioning itself as a cultural and educational center with an interactive environment that forms aesthetic dignity and good taste.
