Architectural monument of VERSAILLES in Mstislavl
Since its opening, the men's gymnasium has been one of the best in the Vilna School District. For the first time, the need to open an educational institution in the city was openly discussed back in the late 1890s. The newspaper "Belarusian Commissar" took the initiative to build a gymnasium in Mstislavl in 1899-1900. A publication was published in one of its issues, during which it was revealed: "There were problems with the relocation of children to secondary schools in the city all the time, as it was difficult for children in provincial cities, so there were difficulties when moving children several times a year. In addition, parents are deprived of the opportunity to monitor the pathological condition of the child and their academic success." This initiative is supported by the entire public of the city. But in order to build an educational institution, money was needed. As Vladimir Tsypin told in his book "Jews in Mstislavl", the decision to build a gymnasium was made by the City Duma in early 1900. Mstislav residents applied to the Ministry of Public Education for funding of the project. But there was no hurry with the transfer of funds. As the author of the book tells, based on the memories of the residents of Mstislavl, money for an educational institution appeared unexpectedly. Part of the funds in the amount of 40,000 rubles for the construction of a men's gymnasium was bequeathed by the noblewoman A.N. Stakhovskaya, who died in 1904. After a long entertainment, the city administration of Mstislavl, the Ministry of Public Education, in August 1906, allowed the opening of a male government gymnasium in the city on the condition that part of the costs of its construction should be allocated from the local budget. A conscious initiative of the city within the framework of the traditional educational process, the local government initiates 120,000 rubles from its funds. By the way, this money was seized not only for the construction of the building, but also for the maintenance of the gymnasium in the first year of its capture. A historically developed part of the city was chosen for the construction of the building. The organization of construction works was carried out under contracts. The building turned out to be two-storey, spacious. It consisted of three buildings connected to each other. On August 22, 1908, an act on the construction of a men's gymnasium was signed. On this day, she was introduced to the Ministry of Public Education. This day was also joyful for high school students, instructors and all residents who have been waiting for the opening of a new educational institution for a long time. By the way, Mstislavl, the useful needs of the city, was also an educational center for Klimovichi, Chaussky, Cherikov and partially Goretsky counties. In 1925, the gymnasium was waiting for changes. Despite the fact that since that time a pedagogical college has been located here, the building has not changed its purpose. A year later, a literary studio "Molodnyak" was opened at the technical school. It is found among young Belarusian writers. By the way, after the October Revolution, a seven-year school was established in the former men's gymnasium, which had a library, a historical museum, and even a carpentry workshop. The school is a storehouse of knowledge A little later, the building of the pedagogical college became school No. 1. Its celebrities, graduates, teachers, who chose everything so that students would come out of school not only with a lot of knowledge, but also with a kind soul, are big, bright, spacious.
