"Gorodets" is the place where during the IX – XI centuries.
the process of forming the city was underway. During the XII-XIII centuries, the center
of the city's life moved from Gorodets to the high right bank
of the Sozh. Today, a part of the site of the settlement with
elements of defensive ramparts and a moat has been preserved.
