Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore
The Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore is one of the oldest museums in Belarus. The museum is located in the city center, on Victory Square. The museum was founded in 1924, and since 1996 has been housed in a two-story Art Nouveau building.
The exposition of the Bobruisk Museum of Local Lore tells about the history of the region, from antiquity to the present day. Sections of the exposition: the history of the Bobruisk region, ethnography, culture, modernity, nature. The exposition of the 1st floor presents archaeological finds, documents on the history of the Bobruisk fortress, household items of citizens of the XIX - early XX century, etc. The halls on the 2nd floor tell about the newest period of history, where a significant place is devoted to the events of the Great Patriotic War. You can get acquainted with ancient crafts and objects of rural life, common in the Bobruisk district, in the hall "Ethnography of the region". The Bobruisk and Bobruisk Residents hall tells about the development of Bobruisk in the post-war period, about the famous people of our city. Writers, artists, artists, composers, as well as cultural institutions of modern Bobruisk are represented in the hall of culture.
The only helmet in Belarus of the late X – early XI centuries is on display. Among the unique exhibits are a Romanesque sword and other items of military equipment; a 1903 sign made in honor of the laying of a fire station in Bobruisk.
The museum offers interactive activities:
-quest games "Secrets of the old city", "Where the beaver tracks lead", "Hunting for a tour";
-performances of the folk puppet theater "Batleika solzhaye";
-the wedding ceremony "For the age of dougi - for the life of kindness."
The museum staff conducts museum classes for schoolchildren "A lesson in a gymnasium 120 years ago", "Crafts and crafts of the inhabitants of the region", "On a visit to the boy David" (about Jewish culture), "Journey to Bobruisk of the 17th century", etc.
For guests of the city, the museum offers field trips "Bobruisk – a city on the Berezina", "Pages of the history of the Bobruisk fortress", "Dear sorrow and Courage", as well as walks "The city where the Bobruisk Rothschilds lived", "Legends and there were Invalid Streets" (along the street of the writer E. Sevela), "Legendary doctors and medicine in old Bobruisk".
Since 2010, the museum has been participating in the international action "Night of Museums".
At the IV Republican tourist competition "Know Belarus", the museum was awarded a diploma of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism in the nomination "Museum. Unforgettable impressions in memory."
