The World Chess Olympiad of 2022 will take place in Belarus

In October last year, Belarus was honored to hold in August 2022 the World Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Congress, the Women's World Cup in 2020 and the Men's World Cup in 2021.

The decision was made at the congress of the International Chess Federation in Batumi. The duration of the World Chess Olympiad is two weeks. During its holding, Belarus will be able to visit about 3,000 players from 180 countries and 2,000 accompanying persons, journalists and tourists.

The Belarusian Chess Federation already has experience in holding such events. In June 2018, the World Cadet Championship in rapid chess and blitz was held. The Belarusian Chess Federation was highly appreciated for organizing the championship from the guests of the competition.
