Holy Dormition Cathedral
The cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Its construction began in 1841, but three years later the unfinished building collapsed, and only in 1864 construction resumed. As a result of many troubles, in 1872 the church was finally completed and consecrated.

In 1934, the church was closed, and a few years later it was turned into a House of Socialist Culture. In the 1960s, the premises became completely unattended. Only in 1999 the Assumption Cathedral was returned to the faithful.

Today the Holy Dormition Cathedral is one of the main decorations of the city. Next to the main building there is a church shop and an administrative block, a chapel for the consecration of water was built, erected in 2008 with the money of parishioners. The cathedral is rightfully proud of its iconostasis: it is five-tiered, includes 24 icons. In 2011, two kiosks appeared in the church - in honor of St. Nicholas and the Kazan Mother of God.
