Rechitsa Museum of Local Lore
On May 3, 2022, the museum turned 70 years old. Since its foundation, the institution has acquired good traditions in educating and educating the population, popularizing the history and culture of the native land. Over the years, more than 70 thousand objects of material and spiritual culture have been deposited in the museum's funds, more than 36 thousand of them are the main fund. Significant collections of archeology, numismatics, faleristics, paintings, objects of labor and everyday life of the peasants of the Rechitsa region, Belarusian national clothing, weaving, photographs, documents, etc. have been collected. Some of them are presented in modern expositions telling about the history of the region from the Middle Stone Age to the present.
The permanent exhibition of the museum is represented by the following departments:
Department "Ancient History"
It covers the period from the Middle Stone Age to the end of the XIX – early XX centuries. Especially valuable in the presented museum collection are the materials of the Milograd archaeological culture of the early Iron Age. The culture was named after one of the first studied monuments – the settlement near the village of Milograd in the Rechitsa district and is one of the brightest tourist brands in the region.
The layout of the Rechitsa castle in the middle of the XVII century
The author of the layout is a well–known Belarusian artist, a resident of Rechitsa – Evgeny Shetikhin. The castle was recreated in miniature by him based on two drawings from 1649 made by Abraham van Westerfeld, the court artist of the Lithuanian Hetman Janusz Radziwill, and gives a vivid idea of the medieval Rechitsa.
Department of "Ethnography"
The exposition of the halls characterizes the most important aspects of the material culture of the peasants of the Rechitsa district: farming tools, flax processing devices, household items, housing, clothing and a Belarusian folk icon.
Department "Rechitsa at the turn of the XIX – XX centuries"
It is represented by rare photographs of the city, which depict architectural monuments, religious buildings, buildings that have not survived to the present day, as well as photographs and personal belongings of participants in the revolutionary events of the early XX century on the territory of Rechitsa and Rechitsa district.
Department "Soviet period and modern times"
It is a complex of materials covering the period from the establishment of Soviet power in the city to the present. The author reveals such events in the history of the region as collectivization, cultural construction, overcoming the difficulties of the post-war years, the rise of the economy, the feat of internationalist soldiers, the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The exposition is regularly supplemented with new materials, including about the current state of the economy, science, culture of the city and the district.
Interactive exposition dedicated to the genocide of the population of the Rechitsa district during the Great Patriotic War "Without a statute of limitations"
Among the exhibits are materials of the Extraordinary State Commission on the atrocities of the Nazi invaders in Rechitsa and Rechitsa district, books of acts of atrocities committed, case materials on the investigation of the atrocities of the Nazi invaders in D.Kobylevo, materials on the damage caused by the Nazi occupiers on the territory of Rechitsa and Rechitsa district (copies).
The exposition was created in such a way that everyone had the opportunity to look through the materials, get acquainted with their contents, therefore it is an interactive museum location, including for the study of materials on the topic of the genocide of the population of Rechitsa and Rechitsa district during the Great Patriotic War.
Department "The Great Patriotic War"
Leaflets, newspapers, documents, state awards and personal belongings of leaders and ordinary participants of the war are exhibited, which reveals the main stages of the war in the territory of the Rechitsky district, the party-Komsomol underground, the partisan movement, liberation from the Nazi invaders.
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the project "Frontline Destinies" about the participants of the events of the war years began work within the department and is currently continuing.
The exposition is also being updated with new materials, including those transferred to the museum by the prosecutor's office of the Rechitsky district.
The department "Nature of the region"
Gives an idea of the animal world of our region, as in dioramas you can see stuffed animals of many of its representatives and learn in detail about their habitat. The materials of the exposition also introduce the geography of the Rechitsa district and minerals. A separate place is occupied by the heading about animals, birds and plants listed in the "Red Book of the Republic of Belarus".
