Arrival in Lida. The city of Lida is proud of the most monumental castle in Belarus, founded seven hundred years ago (1323) by Grand Duke Gediminas. A visit to the Castle will allow you to plunge into the depths of the past - in front of you is one of the most valuable monuments of the defensive architecture of Belarus. The city also preserved cult buildings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Arrival in Grodno at about 13.30, lunch and accommodation at the hotel.
Sightseeing bus and pedestrian tour of Grodno, which will introduce you to the monuments of the city-museum. In the past, the city served as the capital of the Commonwealth. The leading role in the historical and cultural heritage of Grodno is played by architectural ensembles of various eras and styles. Buildings of the Grodno architectural school of the XII century. coexist with the buildings of modernists and constructivists of the XX century. And besides, Gothic, Renaissance, mature Baroque and strict classicism. Here is the oldest church in Belarus - Kolozhskaya, built in the XII century. on the high bank of the Neman. As well as a monumental and refined Grodno church - Farny (1703).
On the streets, diverging in all directions from the former Market Square, numerous monasteries remained - Catholic (Bernardine, Brigitte, Franciscan) and Orthodox Nativity of the Virgin, as well as mansions of the nobility and ordinary civilian buildings. Curved streets, a picturesque relief make the historic center of Grodno unsurpassed! A walk along Sovetskaya Street - the main pedestrian street of Grodno, which retained the charm and sophistication of the ancient city thanks to the wrought-iron grilles of the balconies, the bright colors of the houses, the presence of numerous cafes with ancient interiors and delicious desserts ... And then a small concert of organ music in Lutheran Church of St. John. On a real mechanical organ you will hear various works - from classical to jazz. This concert will allow you to adequately complete a day full of impressions. Overnight in Grodno.
After breakfast - eviction fr om the hotel and departure to the Augustow Canal. On the way we will see the sights of this part of the Grodno region: old towns, slender silhouettes of temples; in the picturesque town of Sopotskin, we will examine the graceful Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in 1789.
The Augustow Canal is a hydraulic structure of the 19th century, one of the largest canals in Europe, included in the preliminary UNESCO World Heritage List. It became the first artificial waterway in Europe, directly linking two large rivers - the Vistula and the Neman. Here we are waiting for a boat trip along the Augustow Canal. A large number of locks and drawbridges add some technogenic zest to the beautiful landscapes. Unforgettable impressions and beautiful photos are guaranteed!
Return to Grodno. Lunch at the restaurant. Then continued the tour of the city-museum. The royal Gothic castle in Grodno arose during the time of Vytautas, at the end of the 16th century. King Stephen Bathory rebuilt it into a Renaissance palace, which played a significant role in the history of the state. Now the castle is under reconstruction - returns its original royal appearance!
Nearby is the New Castle (XVIII century), wh ere the dramatic events of the second and third sections of the Commonwealth took place - the so-called "silent Diet". Both castles are picturesquely situated on the high steep bank of the Neman; inspection of the territory of the castles. Grodno is an international city, in previous centuries a significant part of it was the Jewish population. Visit the majestic synagogue, carefully restored last year. Free time, walks, bus departure to Minsk at 17.00 (for those who have train tickets at 15.52 - do not worry: we will take you to the station!).
