Saturday Excursion in Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has a particular role in nature protection, what is highlighted at national and international levels. The reserve is situated along the upstream of the Berezina River, 100 km off to the North of the capital of the Republic of Belarus – the city of Minsk. There are four types of ecological systems at the Reserve: forests, bogs, water reservoirs and meadows. Woodland makes up around 80% of the Reserve's territory.
Among inhabitants of the reserve are various species of plants and animals many of which are listed in the Red Book (Belarus’ list of endangered species). More than half of the representatives of Belarusian flora can be found here: more 800 species of vascular plants, 218 species of moss, 198 species of lichen and 463 species of fungi. The main kinds of trees are birch, alder, aspen, oak and ash. There are more than 59 mammal species (badger, elk, otter, bear, lynx, beaver, zubr); 234 birds species (osprey, black stork, grey crane, golden eagle, erne, eagle owl, peregrine, ptarmigan, woodpecker, plover); 10 amphibian species, 5 reptile species and 34 kinds of fish. The onsite nature museum’s 50 year collection puts on display about 300 kinds of animals.
Ecological walking route gives a unique opportunity to get to know the secrets of wilderness. You will get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the Reserve, will hear the birds singing. Any season there is a lot of interesting things to find out for the inquisitive person. Lunch in restaurant in Reserve.

Tour route passes through Brylevskaya field. In November 1812 during the crossing of the Berezina River near the village of Studenka lost a substantial part of Napoleon's army. To perpetuate the memory of those killed during the war, in 2002, near the village was a monument to the victims of war. Berezinskaya crossing near Borisov, according to historians, was the darkest page in the history of Napoleon's wars. After visiting the memorial places, you can feel the spirit of the events of 200 years ago. Controversial details some of the events shrouded in mystery to this day, perhaps arouse your interest to ensure that know what, how, why and what happened here in 1812.In the village Studenka you can see a memorial - a monument to the European soldier. It is here, on the bank of the river, is the site of the great tragedy of the French army, described in all the memoirs of contemporaries - the Berezinsky crossing.
