Minsk Zoo is a unique place for spending time with family. It is not only interesting and fun for kids of all ages but also for adults. In addition to classic open-air cages, you can see a terrarium, dolphinarium, aquarium, and exotarium. You can see not only Belarusian animals but also representatives of the fauna of other continents.

The Zoo itself is located on the bank of the river Svisloch, so fish and waterfowl are represented in their natural habitat. At the zoo, there is another unique entertainment for Belarus - petting zoo, where all visitors can feed animals and pat them. However, you can visit "Vyaskovaya syadziba" only in summer. Not long ago, the staff introduced a new animal – bison calf, which was named after domain extension in Belarus - Bynet. The bison calf is favorite not only among the zoo personnel but also among many visitors.

The appearance of Minsk zoo dates back to 1984. At that time this place was founded in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Minsk Automobile Plant, and it was part of this enterprise. In the early 1990s, a capercaillie nursery was moved there from the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. In 1997, the zoo became an independent establishment of the city. 14 years later, the reconstruction of the zoo took place, and two years later the zoo was provided with an area of ​​42 hectares. In 2006, construction of terrarium and exotarium began. A year ago, visitors could see one more extraordinary innovation - a pavilion with the fauna of South America.

By the way, today this pavilion is very popular among visitors. Of course, Minsk residents and guests of the city have already seen Belarusian birds and animals many times, but predators of South America, tropical birds and huge fish are something new! We could only look at colorful animals in an encyclopedia and could only imagine how they look in person. But at the Minsk zoo, you can see them. Monkeys, anacondas, caimans, huge turtles, crocodiles, and even jaguars live there!

If you like fish and dolphins, in this case, you should visit the dolphinarium "Nemo". You can take photos with dolphins, feed them and even swim with them. On weekends and holidays, visitors are offered to enjoy dolphin shows, not only children will be overwhelmed but also adults.

Aquarium is filled with beauty and special atmosphere. It has over 1000 species of fish of different size and color. It is said that the fish help calm down, especially when there are a huge number and such a diversity! If you prefer rodents, the zoo has lab and exotic rodents. Little kids prefer the room with monkeys. Also, there are slides and swings for a child, that’s why this place is perfect for families.
