There are many places in the city on the Sozh dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. And it's not just about memorial complexes. Among the central squares of Gomel, the one that is named in honor of the Victory stands out. This is one of the favorite places of Gomel citizens.

The square is located next to Krasnoarmeyskaya Street and Pobedy Avenue in Gomel, it is rectangular (140 × 60 m). The modern look began to take shape in the 60s of the last century when the Lenin Library was built in Gomel. Thу library is the main compositional accent. The building with its decorated columns is impressive!

In front of the regional library of Lenin in Gomel, a monument to the Lizyukov brothers was erected. The senior Eugene commanded a partisan detachment in the Minsk region. The middle Peter was an artilleryman and took part in the battle at Stalingrad. The youngest Alexander was known from the beginning of the war. He commanded a division, a tank army and had the rank of major general. Peter and Alexander were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

There is also a fountain called Oduvanchik on this square in Gomel. It looks very festive and really looks like an airy white flower (dandelion). There are flower beds and benches around the fountain.

The sights of Gomel: what to see

The Rumyantsev-Paskevich palace can be called the pearl of the city. It is surrounded by a magnificent park with a winter garden, a chapel, an observation tower and a cathedral. Everything in the palace is flooded with light: it is designed without dark corridors and passages between them. Here you will see old books, collections of paintings, and icons.

What else must be done to the guests of the city:

• See the estate of the Boguslavsky family built in the 19th century;
