Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Trokeli
Trokeli is a village of Voronovsky district, Grodno region of Belarus. The main attraction of the village of Trokeli is the wooden Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was built in 1809. This church is a monument of architecture and wooden architecture of the early 19th century. The temple was thoroughly restored in 1866 and in 1928. In 1961, the church was closed. In 1975, the church in the village of Trokeli was returned to the faithful. Nowadays, if necessary, work is also carried out to maintain the temple in its proper form. As a result, the church in the village of Trokeli is in perfect restored condition.

The church in the village of Trokeli is very small and modest, but looking at it, we can imagine what hundreds of wooden churches of the 16th and 18th centuries, burned and destroyed by wars, looked like. But tourists, travelers and numerous pilgrims are attracted here not by the church, but by the icon that is kept in the church: the icon of the Mother of God of Trokel is one of the most revered icons of Belarus. Every year thousands of people come to Trokeli to pray in front of this miraculous icon. The icon of the Mother of God of Trokel was brought to the parish at the end of the XVI century from Vilnius. It is written on canvas, its dimensions are 180x100 centimeters. The author of the work is unknown.

In 1656, during the Polish-Swedish War, the then wooden church in Trokely was completely burned, but believers found an untouched icon in the ashes. In 1738, the rebuilt church burned down again, but the icon again survived. In the same miraculous way, the icon of the Mother of God of Trokel survived during the numerous subsequent wars, persecutions and repressions. To emphasize the special status of the church and the icon in the village of Trokeli for Catholics of Belarus, in 1994 the church received the status of a diocesan sanctuary, and in 2009 the coronation of the icon with Papal crowns took place. Thus, the church in the village of Trokeli is a very important attraction for a certain circle of tourists and travelers in Belarus.
