Walk of Fame Glusk
The Walk of Fame in Glusk is a tribute to the heroism of fellow countrymen. It was opened on August 10, 2007. The Walk of Fame consists of five marble commemorative signs with the names and brief biographical information of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Heroes of Socialist Labor, natives of the district: Stepan Kalinovsky, Ulyan Rybak, Heroes of Socialist Labor Alexandra Shaplyko, Nadezhda Rudnitskaya, Vasily Borisik and a bust of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Stepan Shutov.
In the center of the Walk of Fame there is a bust of Stepan Fedorovich Shutov. The bust was originally installed in the homeland of Stepan Fedorovich Shutov in 1952, in the village of Palace, Glussky district. By the decision of the district party committee and with the consent of the relatives of the Hero of the Soviet Union, in 1975 the bust was moved and installed in the square of the district center.
The bust of Stepan Fedorovich Shutov is a historical artistic monument, which is a sculptural portrait of twice Hero of the Soviet Union S.F. Shutov, mounted on a pedestal in the form of a fluted column on a stylobate.
A simple open face, a proudly raised head, a wide turn of the shoulders with a smooth rounded cut, the image of military awards on the chest create the image of a man who devoted his whole life to serving the people and the Motherland. The sculptural composition is made of bronze and granite. Initially, it included two bronze vases installed on both sides of the pedestal. The height of the bust is 1.1 meters, and the height of the pedestal is 2.9 meters.
In the post-war years, from 1946 to 1947, Stepan Fyodorovich Shutov was Deputy Minister of Social Security of the BSSR, then a member of the party commission under the Central Committee of the CPB, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1946-50 and the Supreme Council of the BSSR in 1951-55, author of the book "Red Arrows" in 1963.
Stepan Fedorovich Shutov died on 17.04.1963. He was buried at the Baykov Cemetery in Kiev. In honor of the memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a bust of S.F. Shutov was installed in Glusk, and streets in Kiev, Bobruisk, Glusk and the secondary school of the village of Gorodok, in the Glussky district, were named after him.
This bust marked the beginning of the future Walk of Fame in Glusk.
