At the General Assembly of the International Chess Federation in Batumi, it was decided that in 2022 Belarus would become the organizer of the World Chess Olympiad.

In the coming years, several major world sport events will be held in Belarus. In 2019, the country will host the II European Games, in 2021 - the World Hockey Championship, and in 2022 the World Chess Olympiad will be held in Minsk for the first time.
