An ancient burial ground of the XIII-XIV centuries was discovered near Golshansky castle

The burial ground of the XIII-XIV centuries was discovered during the restoration of the territories surrounding Golshany Castle. Archaeologists were busy studying the finding, and the reconstruction of the castle was temporarily suspended.

The existence of the burial ground has been known since the 19th century, but its location until recently remained a secret. 

There were found:

  • decoration,

  • a knife,

  • a pagan amulet

  • burnt fragments of a sword and a cervical hryvnia.

It is the last two findings that are considered the most important because their study will allow to draw conclusions about the cremation of thу dead.

An interesting fact from VETLIVA: reconstruction is carried out not only in Golshansky castle but also in Puslovsky palace. Soon it will be possible to stop and have a meal in the castle located in Kossovo: by the end of the year, it’s planned to open a cafe and a hotel here.
